How it works

A simple, personal journey from your photo to a lasting legacy

Up to 7 days from approval. Most of that week is ours, not yours — the only thing we need from you is photographs and an approval.

Nothing is made unseen.

A marble Athletic Street memorial bust, spotlit on a black base.

Step by step

What happens, and who does it

Six steps. Two of them are yours.

From a photograph, to a piece you can hold. It’s easier than you might think.

  1. 01
A clear photograph of Don, the reference we sculpt from.

    You

    Send your photographs

Three to six photographs from different angles is ideal. One clear photograph is workable; more is better. We will tell you what we can see.

  2. 02
Four Athletic Street busts in descending sizes, the same likeness compared side by side.

    Us - within 24 hours

    We assess them honestly

Reviewed within 24 hours. If the photographs will not produce a good likeness, we say so and refund you in full.

  3. 03
Don’s sculpture in plain grey, before a metallic finish.

    Us

    We sculpt

A three-dimensional mesh is generated from the photographs and then corrected by hand. This is where the likeness is actually made.

  4. 04
A finished marble Athletic Street memorial bust.

    You

    You approve

You see up to three design previews (the first preview plus up to two revisions). Nothing is printed until you have signed it off.

  5. 05
Don’s sculpture in bronze, after the metallic finish.

    Us - in our workshop

    We print and finish

Printed in-house on our own machines, then hand-finished. A metallic finish takes about an hour of careful hand work.

  6. 06
Don’s finished sculpture in aged copper, the piece we check every other one against.

    Us - insured and tracked

    Checked, boxed and sent

Every piece is checked against your photographs, boxed with the care card (and the capsule instructions, if it has the optional chamber), then sent insured and tracked.

Choosing photographs

What makes a good likeness

This is the single thing that decides how the finished piece looks. It is worth five minutes going through what you have.

  1. 01Face on, well lit, no heavy shadow across the features.
  2. 02Three to six photographs from different angles if you have them.
  3. 03Eyes open and looking towards the camera in at least one.
  4. 04Nothing covering the face — no sunglasses, no hand under the chin.
  5. 05Higher resolution helps, but a good old photograph beats a poor new one.

If the photographs aren’t right

We will tell you before you pay. Sometimes the answer is a different photograph; sometimes it is a smaller size where less detail is expected; occasionally it is that we are not the right people for the piece. We would rather say so at the start than send you something that does not look like them.

Payment is taken before sculpting begins, and the approval gate is what protects you: nothing is manufactured until you have seen the design and said yes.

Every sculpture begins with a story. Our job is to make sure that story is seen, remembered and treasured for generations.
